LAST NIGHT I was delighted to be announced as one of the winners in the inaugural Newspress Awards, which celebrates the best motoring writers and PRs from across the UK.
I was lucky enough to pick up the award for Automotive News Writer against some very stiff competition for my work at Classic Car Weekly, where I've been working since 2013.
Among the stories that caught the judges' attention were an investigation into the disappearance of lock-up garages across the UK, an exclusive story about the Chinese discussing opening up their borders to historic vehicles.
Newspress' judges said: 'David is a standout winner with genuinely interesting stories and exclusives that were well researched.
'Stories ranging from China imports, an investigation about of the loss of lock-up garages and an 80% drop in voluntary MoT tests for pre-1960 classic cars were all proper exclusives of real interest to the target readership.'
Definitely a great privilege. Congratulations, I really enjoy reading your post.
